How Often Do Ball Pythons Shed?

Ball Pythons are called as such because of their tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened and are common pets because of their small size and relatively docile temperament. How often your snake sheds will depend largely on how often he’s eating and his individual metabolism. A growing young snake may shed as often as every four to six weeks. Older snakes, which don’t grow as much, may only shed once or twice per year. The whole shedding process normally takes about ten to fourteen days from start to finish, and you may notice that his belly turns pink just before the shedding begins.
