Maxine the Mixed Breed Dog

Maxine came to live with me at about 7 years old after being dumped and left to fend for herself. After landing at my place, she had an easy life and was loved very, very much. She was a fiesty ol' gal and afraid of no other dogs, no matter how big (she once tried to pick a fight with a Boxer at the vet's office). She also once chased a deer through the field, but alas, it got away when it jumped the fence! Then she got sick. She had a couple of successful operations that gave her a couple more good years, but the cancer eventually got the better of her. Although I knew it was coming, it was still too soon and very hard to let go. I miss her terribly, but the memories make me smile and I know I gave her the best 5 years of her life.
