Misty, our Sheltie. Dearly missed. Yours was a joyful and loving life. You came to us when we were looking for a companion for Sam after he lost his lifemate, Fluffy. Sam interviewed many dogs at many shelters but it was you he chose. You were available, at the age of 6, because the family that had you didn't want the "work" of taking care of a dog since their son had lost interest. We are forever gratetful for their foolish decision. You lifted Sam (and us) from the sadness and, once again, he wanted to go out and play and we could laugh. The UPS man was your sworn enemy and as soon as his truck turned down the street, you went into full alert barking at the door. It's awfully quiet now and I'd give anything to hear you barking at the UPS guy. When Sam passed away, we found Sherlock, a coonhound, at a Kentucky rescue through petfinder.com and brought him home. Always the gracious lady, you put up with his puppy antics, and those of Chewy, a Tennessee rescue with style and grace - and an occasional "hrumph". You loved to sleep in the sun spot on the carpet. Sometimes you'd roll onto your back and couldn't get back. We'd laugh to see you "turtle".
We remember when you first came to us and you said, "Look, I don't do dog tricks" and you didn't. If we threw the ball, you'd watch it and then look back at us as if to say, "Hey, YOU threw it!" But you were the best little cheerleader when the other dogs would run for toys. You'd run around barking until they brought it back. We brought a kitten home and you adopted him. You'd walk around the house with the kitten hanging upside down from your "mane". We buried you next to Sam under the rose tree. You were a good little girl and we all loved, and love, you. Thank you for bringing your sunshine into our lives.
